ABOUT JULES
I never set out to become
a teacher trainer.
I simply wanted to become a better teacher.
I’m Jules Dadulo-McDonald - yoga educator, teacher trainer, professional mentor, author, founder of 3StepYoga™, and host of Modern Yoga Talks.
My work lives at the intersection of yoga education and real life. I train and mentor yoga teachers, write about practice and being human, and host conversations that ask what yoga means in the world we actually live in - not an idealized one.

THE STORY BEHIND THE WORK
The path was never linear.
My life has moved across countries, careers, studios, classrooms, and more than a few unexpected chapters.
I was born and raised in the Philippines and later built a life in the United States. Along the way, I became a yoga teacher, studio owner, teacher trainer, mentor, writer, and lifelong student of how people learn.
There have been seasons of success, uncertainty, burnout, healing, rebuilding, and beginning again.
Each one changed the way I understand yoga.
I stopped seeing the practice as something separate from ordinary life. Yoga was not only happening in poses, meditation, or moments of stillness. It was present in difficult conversations, changing bodies, complicated relationships, professional decisions, grief, identity, and the quiet work of learning to trust yourself again.
That realization became the foundation of everything I teach today.
WHAT CHANGED THE WAY I TEACH
Knowing more did not
automatically make me a better teacher.
When I first began teaching yoga, I thought improvement meant memorizing better sequences, learning more variations, delivering more impressive cues, and collecting more information.
Knowledge matters. Technique matters.
But neither one guarantees that a student will feel seen, understood, or supported.
Over time, I became less interested in how much a teacher knows and more interested in how a teacher thinks.
Can they observe before correcting?
Can they understand before assuming?
Can they communicate clearly without taking away a student’s agency?
Can they recognize when to offer support, and when to leave something alone?
Can they respond to the person in front of them rather than forcing every body into the same idea of a pose?
Those questions changed my teaching.
They also changed the kind of teachers I wanted to help develop.
“Teach the person. Not just the pose, the sequence, or the version of yoga you were taught.”
THE 3STEPYOGA™ APPROACH
Ground. Move. Reset.
3StepYoga™ grew from the belief that meaningful learning requires more than information.
Ground
Observe before acting. Listen before answering. Understand the person, the context, and the purpose behind what you are teaching.
Move
Turn knowledge into thoughtful action. Practice, communicate, experiment, teach, receive feedback, and develop the judgment to make informed decisions.
Reset
Reflect on what happened. Reassess what you thought you knew. Make adjustments and remain willing to begin again.
Ground • Move • Reset is not simply a tagline. It is a framework for teaching, learning, and staying responsive in a practice that continues to evolve.
Teaching begins long before the first cue.
WHAT I BELIEVE
Every student arrives with a different body, history, nervous system, culture, and reason for showing up.
Good teaching begins with paying attention.
I believe:
Every student deserves to feel seen.
Observation should come before correction.
Understanding should come before assumption.
Consent is part of communication—not a formality.
Technique matters, but presence matters more.
Curiosity creates better teachers.
Student choice should be protected.
A teacher’s responsibility continues beyond memorizing a sequence.
The goal is not impressive teaching. It is meaningful learning.
The best teachers remain willing to be students.
These beliefs shape every training, mentorship conversation, workshop, resource, and class I create.

MODERN YOGA TALKS
Ancient practice.
Modern questions. Honest conversations.
Yoga does not exist outside real life.
It lives inside changing bodies, complicated relationships, imperfect classrooms, evolving communities, and a world the ancient teachings could never have predicted.
Modern Yoga Talks grew from my desire to make room for conversations that do not fit neatly inside a training manual or social-media caption.
The podcast explores teaching, movement, philosophy, identity, healing, professional practice, cultural context, and the questions that do not come with simple answers.
I am less interested in presenting certainty than I am in creating space for curiosity, nuance, disagreement, and more honest ways of understanding the practice.
“This podcast is not about having the final answer. It is about becoming willing to ask better questions.”
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
The credentials matter. What I do with them matters more.
My professional background includes:
E-RYT 500

Lead yoga teacher trainer and professional mentor
Former yoga studio owner
Author and curriculum developer
Host of Modern Yoga Talks
Hatha and Vinyasa yoga education
Trauma-informed yoga training

Meditation, breathwork, philosophy, and advanced Yoga and Ayurveda studies
Advanced education related to yoga and mental health
These experiences inform my work, but they do not make me finished.
I remain a student.
I continue learning from the people I teach, the teachers I mentor, the mistakes I make, and the questions that refuse to offer easy answers.
BEYOND THE CREDENTIALS
The work is still about people.
The part of this work I care about most cannot be summarized by a title.
It is the moment a new teacher realizes they do not have to perform confidence.
It is the conversation that helps someone recognize that uncertainty does not make them unqualified.
It is watching a teacher stop copying someone else’s voice and begin trusting their own.
It is helping people understand that responsible teaching is not about always knowing what to do. Sometimes it is about having enough awareness to pause, ask, listen, or leave something alone.
My goal is not simply to help people teach yoga.
It is to help develop teachers who are observant, thoughtful, capable, and willing to remain human while they lead.
